The Beauty of Ordinary Things
The piece measures 7.25" by 7.25". The front of the panel is a flat, red stone which has been framed in gold-painted wood. The stone is inset and there is a minimal space between its edges and those of the frame itself. Within this space the frame has been painted a red ochre which is not evident in the scan, nor is the lustre of the red stone on which the items have been affixed. The snail shell is from my best friend's garden and the other bits are random debris found in western Nebraska. The entire piece has been highly varnished to protect its more delicate elements from damage. Private Collection
