Books & Bones

*New Work

Within this work I discover the unity of bone and book in an exploration of paper, language and the means by which we bind these things together. Bones, leaves, shells, paper, sinew and materials familiar to binders inform most of the pieces shown here.
*In Limbo

Bones, shells, flowers and paper inform this work, created during a period of personal stasis in which a whole lot of nothing got done.
*Eastern Sea Series

In May of 2007 I made my way to Cape Cod Bay on the eastern coast of the United States where I spent several blissful weeks with friends. The Eastern Sea series, a collection of collaborative art, was one of the more visible results of that visit, born of inspiration found in the bounty of the sea.
*Bone Scrolls

The scrolls are a compilation of bone, stone and other remnants adhered to handmade paper by the use of hemp twine. Scrolls are hung from the branch of a tree and beads and baubles adorn their lower edge.
*Bone Panels

My earliest memories are of collecting odd leaves, shells, pebbles and other bits of natural debris and creating strange images from their shapes. My love of this childhood pleasure has resulted in a collection of bone art that alludes to a place where ancient dreams unfold and strange creatures beckon.
