There is a Japanese legend that says whoever folds a thousand cranes will be granted a wish. Papaveria Press presents a moving and perhaps timely short story by Danny Adams, called
Village of One Thousand Cranes. It is the tale of a young Japanese-American girl who, while living in an internment camp, comes to understand how wishes can change the world.
The book measures 3 inches high by 2.5 wide and is case bound with a reinforced spine including headbands. It is covered in a red cloth patterned with cherry blossoms and inside it is lined with thick, red endpapers. Click on the picture to your right for a glimpse at the detail of the interior.
Danny Adams is the co-author, with
Philip Jose Farmer, of the short science fiction novel
The City Beyond Play, forthcoming from
PS Publishing at the end of 2006. He is a member of the
Science Fiction Poetry Association and has far too many publishing credits to list here. Check out Danny's online
journal for more information.
