The Sailor's Wife

*
The Sailor's Wife is a lonely creature, her story has been told countless times—we know it well. A single bone reflects this solitary figure, below her the sea spits out a shell. She does not notice, intent as she is on the waves. She is here drawn in barnacles, shell and bone on slate, backed by mahagony-stained wood. One of countless poems written about her is included on the back.

The pieces measures approximately 3 inches high by 5 inches wide and has been highly varnished to protect the elements of the work.

The back has been titled, signed and dated by the artist.
