The World Tree

*
The vertebrae were sunk into the sand in a perfect row, but when I found them I did not see the remains of any dead thing. Instead, I saw the branches of a living tree stretching out towards the fruits that had fallen from its branches. The World Tree includes pieces of butterflies, dried flowers, buds, leaves, a shell and a bird feather dangling from its limbs. Above it shines a horned moon to balance out the bounty of the earth. All things are held within its arms.

The piece is highly varnished, measures 5.25 wide by 7.25 high and is ready to hang. It has been signed and dated by the artist on the back of the piece and includes text.

The detail reveals the flower blooming at the top of the tree and the remnant of a butterfly wing..

The back of the panel has been varnished, titled, signed and dated by the artist and includes the text of The World Tree.

Its bark is her time-roughened skin. Its spine is her foundation. She climbs its branches; the leaves twist in her hair. At its peak she finds a flower all unfurled. She looks down; the world is spread upon her belly, each thing within blossoms from her curling fingertips. She looks around; all life flows up the trunk to which she clings and out of her.
